Suspend Physician For Making Casteist Comments: SC Board

National Commission for Scheduled Castes has asked the director, medical education and research (DMER) to instantly pass on the suspension orders against Dr Harsimrat Singh, assistant professor in ophthalmology section of the city’s government medical college.

As per reports, Dr. Singh has allegedly made insulting comments as well as remarks against caste of a Scheduled Caste MBBS pupil of the government medical college.

The report added that vice chairman of the commission, Dr Raj Kumar Verka, arranged a conference with medical education and research Dr. Tejveer Singh, Patiala’s DC GK Singh, Patiala SSP HS Maan, and asked them to take severe note of the episode.

On April 9 this year, Dr. Singh called out for roll number 18 whilst taking attendance, however Amolpreet Singh whose roll number happened to be 80 responded, irritating the assistant lecturer.

The latter allegedly stated, “You spectacled individual, leave, I am definite only you can do all this nonsense.”

But, during examination, the teacher refused that he had made casteist comments against Amolpreet Singh.
