Pbi Varsity Get Workstation For Census Data Research

On Wednesday, the Punjab University got a big distinction as it got to inaugurate its workstation for ‘research on micro data for census’ at its campus ground. With this feather in the hat Punjab University becomes second to Jawaharlal Nehru University in ‘carrying out useful research that will help people access date for easy optimization’.

C. Chandraouli, registrar-general and census commission of India speaking at this occasion said that this is significant information that is generated by carrying out huge data collection exercise from the diverse geographical, culture and ethnic groups from the tough terrains of India that usually lie stacked in libraries or dusty corridors of the administration offices. This will encourage Research scholars to carry in-depth critical analyses of the database to get value-added and other social applications.

Vice chancellor Jaspal Singh described it an historic day.

According to him the workstation will boost quality and utilitarian research amongst the faculty and also for the research scholars of the department of sociology, where it is established.

He also powered the scholars will to evolve the center as the best in the country be picking up issues and problems of the under-privileged and general society in particular.

As per Seema Jain, director census operations Punjab, said that the census data is a treasure collection of demographic information on the various aspects and fronts of the society.

The main work of the station is to make the data clearer and easily accessible to the larger society. She also added during the 12th 5 year plan 18 such more workstations are planned to be setup.
