‘Jilted’ Lover Throws Acid On Female In Patiala

A man in Bhawanigarh attacked a woman at Bhawanigarh only on Sunday and threw acid on her after their alleged affair went sour.

The man fled away on a motorcycle along with one more accomplice who was waiting for him. The victim has got many burn injuries on several parts of the body has been admitted to the Rajindra Hospital in Patiala.

Sources revealed that the man has been identified and he knew the woman since a long time.

The victim’s sister said that an unknown man rang the bell and said he had some articles from the market committee office. When her sister opened the door, he threw acid on her face and fled away with his accomplice on a motorbike.

The victim was rushed to the Bhawanigarh Hospital from where she was referred to Patiala. The woman had got burn injuries on her neck, chest and arms.

The DSP of the Sangrur district, Gurpreet Singh has said that the attacker has been identified as Mangat Ram, who claims to have had an affair with the woman. The man wanted to revive the ties and upon failing, poured acid on the woman.

The DSP added that they have registered a case against Mangat Ram and his unidentified accomplice and efforts are being made to apprehend the culprits.
