Bettering Teacher-Pupil Proportion An Uphill Task

The Punjab Education Department confronts an uphill job in striking a well-mannered teacher-pupil proportion in administrative educational institutions in rustic regions as the sum of teachers there are too low. The section will start its rationalization campaign from May 15.

The teacher-pupil proportion in rustic educational institutions did not alter even after the rationalization drive implemented last year.

The number of pupils in administrative educational institutions is growing every year and a lot of the teachers are functioning on demand positions in the cities thus adding to the anguishes of rural educational institutions.

Bettering Teacher-Pupil Proportion An Uphill Task

There are over 400 empty posts of master cadre teachers and 50 of lecturers in Patiala district alone and the majority of these posts are in the rustic belt of Samana and Patran.

Punjab Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka stated that under this campaign, 2,000 to 2,500 teachers would be shifted.

Sikander Singh Maluka added that there were more than 10,000 empty positions of teachers all through Punjab. Maluka added though the section had employed 5,100 teachers, the court had placed a stay on the staffing, holding up the procedure by more than a month.

The department will recruit more staff.
