Two Pakistani Convicts Shifted To Ferozepur From Nabha Jail

Fearing attack on Pakistani convicts in Punjab after the assassination of Sarabjit Singh in Lahore, the Punjab administration has shifted two of them from the maximum security prison in Nabha to Ferozepur for protection.

Irfan Ullah, convicted of three radical acts and given sixteen year jail punishment, and Shahid Iqrar Bhatti, a man under trial, got shifted under high protection around 4.30 pm on May 03. Since the demise of Sarabjit Singh in Pakistan, the safety of Pakistani convicts had been increased in Punjab and the jail functionaries had placed ordered to place them in independent chambers.

Two Pakistani Convicts Shifted To Ferozepur From Nabha Jail

On May 03 morning, Pakistani convict Sanaullah was hit by fellow convicts within the high protection Kot Balwal prison in Jammu.

Nabha prison superintendent Gurpal Singh stated that his jail had not sufficient sovereign cells and so he had asked top functionaries to shift the two Pakistanis.

“It was impossible for us to offer both convicts with safety without any independent cells to put them in,” Gurpal Singh said.

“Around 10 Pakistanis are in the Ferozepur prison already and since they’ll be barracked in a common building, they’ll be safer there,” Gurpal Singh added up.
