Privatization Of Power Allocation Contradicted

Padamjit Singh and Shaliendra Dubey chairman and secretary general of All India Power Engineers’ Association, respectively were also there.

As per a press release released here, “The move for privatization of power allocation all through the nation was opposed by power engineers. The provisional bailout monetary package declared by the administration of India is an apparent move in this direction. The states opting for respite under the financial restructuring arrangement will have to set up privatisation of power distribution either through public private affiliation mode or via franchisee mode and NIPEF strongly oppose it.”

The federation also damned the franchisee model of privatization of power division and re-employment of out-of-date engineers in Haryana Discoms.

Northern India Power Engineers Federation’s secretary general Bhupinder Singh stated that enhanced operational outcomes could be attained via departmental implementation as demonstrated by the state of Punjab.

In the initial case, AT&C losses had been reduced to 12-13% in the city of Patiala. Punjab had been victorious in imposing the pillar box plan for reduction of losses and enhancement in quality of supply to rustic consumers, he added.

NIPEF chairman RS Dahiya stated that the executive group condemned the policy of granting extension beyond superannuation to certain engineers in the state of Haryana.
