Yadavindra Public School is considered as one of the top Indian Public schools. The founder of this school was the late Maharaja Yadavindra Singh , father of Capt. Amarinder Singh, a leading politician of Punjab and a former chief minister of the state.

This school was started for the children of those families which had to leave YPS’s sister school Atchison College, Lahore, during partition of India in 1947. In reality, this is a sister school of Aitchison’s College. The school is affiliated to the ISCE Board. Yadavindra Public School, Mohali, near Chandigarh, is a branch of this school. The school has a good stadium, which was built in 1938 for the Commonwealth Games. There is a 25-meters long swimming pool with three playgrounds for football and hockey. It also has a horse-riding ground. The school has its own well-bred horses. Moreover, other games like badminton, basketball and table tennis can also be opted for by the students. The students also participate in extra-curricular activities. Its library has a vast range of books, magazines and newspapers. There are 1600 students and 100 teachers in the school at present.

Cricketers Navjot Sidhu, and the late Dhruv Pandove are some of the well-known students of YPS.

The school celebrates its annual day in February. Exhibitions are held regularly by the children. A strong point of the school is its lower fees as compared to other boarding schools in India.
